WHAT IS YOUR COMPANY'S ASSET PRESERVATION STRATEGY?

How maintenance can be performed to ensure Equipment/Assets reaches or exceeds its design life?

EVNNPS - Asset lifecycle and Maintenance strategy
Maintenance activities on equipment that is inexpensive & unimportant to facility reliability may best be left to a CrM approach. PdM~55%, PvM~35%, CrM~10%.
Zero waste * Zero loss * Zero pain

RcM - Sustainable Industrial Maintenance Strategy?

WHAT’S RcM?
Reliability-centered Maintenance is a Systematic Process to analyze, evaluate and optimize Maintenance strategies for Industrial Asset Systems.
RCM are optimally integrated PvM, PdM, CrM to increase Operability beyond the design life cycle, maximize required equipment Reliability & Availability while a minimum amount of Maintenance (LCC) & Downtime.

HOW’S RcM?
The primary objective is to ensure that assets continue to perform their intended functions safely and efficiently. RCM involves a comprehensive analysis of Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality (FMECA), and it recommends appropriate a Maintenance Plan based on these analyses. The methodology for the best maintenance strategy is rooted in the principles of preserving system Functions, identifying Failure Modes, and prioritizing maintenance efforts based on the Impact of failure (Hidden – HSSE – Production – Economy).

WHY’S RcM?
Instead of a single maintenance strategy, RcM is the optimal combination of Reactive (Run to Failure) & Proactive maintenance (Predictive, Preventive & Corrective). The advantage comes not from using these maintenance strategies independently, but by integrating them based on asset Criticality and other Failure Modes management.

Smaller value assets that are non-critical impact are applied with reactive maintenance; While assets with random failure patterns or preventive maintenance induced failures are maintained with on-condition predictive maintenance.

In this way, the best maintenance strategy is implemented.

PdM – Predictive Maintenance?

Measurements that detect the onset of system degradation (lower functional state), thereby allowing causal stressors to be eliminated or controlled prior to any signifcant deterioration in the component physical state.\

Estimated 8% to 12% cost savings over PvM program. Maintenance need on the actual condition of the machine rather than on some preset schedule. PdM is used to define needed maintenance task based on quantifed material/equipment condition.

We will be able to schedule maintenance activities to minimize or delete overtime cost. We will be able to minimize inventory and order parts, as required, well ahead of time to support the downstream maintenance needs. We can optimize the operation of the equipment, saving energy cost and increasing plant reliability.

– Assets with Random failure patterns;
– Critical Asset System by FMECA;
– Equipment non-wear;
– Failure induced by incorrect PvM.

PvM – Preventive Maintenance?

Actions performed on a time- or machine-run-based schedule that detect, preclude, or mitigate degradation of a component or system with the aim of sustaining or extending its useful life through controlling degradation to an acceptable level.

Estimated 12% to 18% cost savings over CrM program. While is not the optimum maintenance program, Includes performance of unneeded maintenance.

  • Equipment subject to wearout;
  • Consumable equipment;
  • Asset with known failure patterns;
  • Manufacturer recommendations.

CrM – Reactive maintenance?

Reactive maintenance is basically the “run it till it breaks” maintenance mode. No actions or efforts are taken to maintain the equipment as the designer originally intended to ensure design life is reached.

  • Small parts and equipment;
  • Non-critical equipment;
  • Equipment unlikely to fail;
  • Redundant, Standby Systems.
